OUR GROUPS

Firbeck is lucky to have a range of thriving regular activity groups, which run on a weekly or monthly basis, at the Village Hall.

Most of the groups are run by local residents, for the benefit of the local community, and cover a wide range of different interests.

Browse below to find out more information about each of the groups, including contact details.

TABLE TENNIS

A great way to get some gentle exercise, meet new friends, and have lots of fun!

Players of all abilities, including complete beginners, are very welcome to join our table tennis club, which runs each Wednesday, 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Firbeck Village Hall.

Each session costs £2.50 per person, which includes all equipment and refreshments.

We currently play on two full sized tables, and usually have a friendly doubles tournament during the session, where you’ll be paired with someone from the group. It’s all very friendly and there are always experienced players on hand to help you learn the rules.

If you’re not sure whether it’s for you, then you’re very welcome to come along for a free session and to meet others in the group, without obligation.

No need to book - just turn up, or if you would like more information, please ring or text Anita on 07505 461368 or Les on 07536 984401.

INDOOR BOWLS

Firbeck Indoor Bowls takes place on Monday evenings, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Entry is £2 which includes refreshments.

Equipment is provided so you just have to turn up to play in clean, flat shoes/trainers. Games start promptly at 6:30pm.

The evening consists of friendly matches between allocated teams with plenty of bowling and gentle rivalry. Regular team changes and a league system is managed and organised by Les.

If you wish further information about the club do not hesitate to get in contact via email at les.crownshaw@gmail.com or text on 07536984401 and Les will get back to you.

Everyone is welcome, the aim to have an enjoyable evening of sociable bowling.

FIRBECK READERS

Firbeck Readers is a Book Club meeting every 6 weeks or so, to discuss and debate the merits or otherwise of shared books and their authors. It is a very friendly group, where everyone’s views are listened to and valued, and everybody gets the opportunity to choose the book to be read on a rotational basis.

Meetings cost just £1, and members purchase their own copy of the chosen book, or order from the library.

For further information and the date of our next meeting please telephone or text Richard Collins on 07749 841550 or Anita Butcher on 07505 461368

Happy reading!
